8/3   Yarn Club to meet at the F.C. Extension Office. Join yarn stitchers that like to share their yarn skills, such as crochet and knit, and their stories on the first Tuesday evening in August, at 6:00 p.m. at the Fleming County Extension Office. Bring your current yarn project or one you want to start. This group is open to anyone of any age. This group meets the first Tuesday of each month. 8/12   Lunch 'n' Learn
The Chamber is sponsoring a Lunch 'n' Learn on the topic Healthy and Home-cooked in a Hurry presented by Donna Fryman (Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences), Barbara Campbell (SNAP-ed Assistant) and Gwen O'Cull (EFNEP Assistant). It will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the F.C. Extension Office from 11:30 AM until 1 PM. Cost is $10 per person, which includes the training session and lunch. 8/14   1-Year Celebration at Double S Entertainment beginning at 1 PM. Corn Hole Tourney, Fish Fry and Grilled hot dogs and cheeseburgers, Possible Car Show, Possiable Craft Fair, Backyard Carnival setting up with a variety of inflatables for kids, Luau Dance. 8/16   Reception Planned at Fleming County Public Library
The Fleming County Friends of the Public Library invite you to meet our new Librarian, Dana Belcher. A reception will be held on Monday August 16th, from 11AM until 1 PM at the Library. 8/23   Hooping for Fitness at the Fleming Co. Extension Office.
Remember hula hooping being fun when you were a child? You still can. As an adult, you may need a heavier hoop than those sold in the toy department. Come to a workshop to learn how you can make your own. The Fleming County Extension Service is hosting a HOOPING FOR FITNESS class on Monday evening August 23, 7:00 p.m. at the Extension Office. Hooping Practice will follow this workshop.

The class fee is $6.00 to cover cost of materials. If you want to decorate your own hoop, bring electrical tape in your favorite colors. Also bring a hand held hair dryer if you have one. Please call the Extension Office at 845-4641 to pre-register by the deadline, August 18th. (7 PM)

This seminar welcomes business owners as well as individuals. The information we have to offer has been used by businesses so that they can offer a TAX FREE and PENALTY FREE retirement program to their employees. It has boosted morale in many companies because a lot of people have been losing money in their 401K's, 403b's, 457's, TSP's, etc.. and now they have an alternate route that will allow them to earn more money WITHOUT ANY RISK!!!

Presented by Fleming County Tourism. 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Goddard Bridge on Hwy. 32.
There will be music, arts & crafts, food, an antique car & tractor show, heritage demonstrations and more!

Throughout the morning, the FC Sheriff's office will be conducting K9 demos with their dog, Basko.

The Fleming County Tourism Committee will offer a Kid's Crafts Booth. Food and Craft Vendors will be available throughout the day. There will be educational programs, bridge restoration info, grist mill, antique cars & tractors, and more!

There will be people on hand at both Ringo's Mill & Grange City Covered Bridges to answer questions.

The Fleming County Covered Bridge Museum will be open in downtown Flemingsburg, from 12 - 4 PM.

Maps & brochures will be available for self-guided tours of the Covered Bridges, Barn Quilts, Flemingsburg Downtown Walking Tour & other area attractions.

8/28 - 29   Licking River Canoe Adventure
This one-day trip is an all-inclusive 20-mile excursion on the Licking River. Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park will supply canoes, life jackets, box lunch, snacks, drinks, and evening buffet meal at Hidden Waters Restaurant. Cost is $69.95 + tax per person. You will cover a total paddling distance of approximately 20 miles. Space is limited.
