Join yarn stitchers who like to share their yarn skills, such as crocheting and knitting, and their stories on Tuesday, June 1st at 6:00 p.m. at the Fleming County Extension Office. Bring your current yarn project or one you want to start. This group is open to anyone of any age. This group meets the first Tuesday of each month. June 3-6
Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park hosts local crafters and vendors as part of the annual HWy 68-80 400 mile yard sale. Antiques, handcrafts, and many other goods will be available during this four-day event right on the park grounds. Vendors call Paul Tierney at 800-443-7008 to reserve your FREE space.

6/4   Seafood Buffet at Hidden Waters Restaurant
Join us the first Friday of every month when we serve an all you can eat seafood buffet, including unlimited soup and salad bar for $27.99 + tax + beverage. Our Seafood Buffet includes all-you-can-eat crab legs, fried fish, and an ever changing variety of other seafood entrées. We even serve items for the land lovers in your family, like pasta, roast beef & gravy, and fried chicken. Of course, this also includes our fabulous dessert bar. Buffet is served from 4pm-close. 6/4   Lye Soap Making at the Pioneer Museum
A welcome necessity on the frontier, soap served an array of purposes with which to maintain cleanliness. From the leaching of lye to the curing of usable soaps, learn more about this age-old process at the Pioneer Museum at Blue Licks. This program will be taking place throughout the day and is part of the Pioneer Museum Summer Series. It is free with your paid admission to the museum. 6/5 - 6   Free Fishing Weekend at Blue Licks
Every year Kentucky offers free fishing days the first weekend in June. No license is required for residents or non-residents to fish in any Kentucky waters, but all fishing regulations remain in effect. Free fishing days are an excellent time to invite family and friends from out-of-state to ply the waters of Kentucky. Just put out your “Gone Fishin’ Sign” and travel to Blue Licks for some fun on the Licking River! Nearby Lake Carnico also offers some excellent fishing. Join Chef Horace Moore and his team for a down home pig roast with all the good country fixin’s. 6/14 - 18   Needlework & Sewing Day Camp at Fleming County Extension Office
If you are interested in learning to sew, there is going to be a class starting June 14 through 18, 2010, from 10 am — 2 pm at the Extension Office. The sewing class is for anyone, boys and girls. Your instructors for the class are Donna Fryman, Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, Barb Campbell, FSNEP Extension Assistant, and 4-H volunteers.

The class size is limited, so get your name registered early by calling the Fleming Co. Extension Office at 845-4641 or e-mail dl_ces_fleming@email.uky.edu by the deadline of June 11th and ask for a supply list and the required class fee amount. (10 AM - 2 PM)

God’s Pantry is hosting a Food Giveaway to any resident of Fleming County. Food giveaway will be held on June 17th, 12 – l PM at the Flemingsburg Baptist Church located on the Elizaville Road. This Food Giveaway is first come, first served and you must have documentation that you reside in Fleming County. Bring a basket or large boxes to carry the food. Arrow Making - Hunting has always been an active part of Blue Licks and for many hunters that meant bows and arrows. A careful eye and attention to detail are needed to obtain the perfection needed for a successful hunt. Watch and learn how our native ancestors may have constructed these tools. 6/20   Father’s Day Buffet at Hidden Waters
That special guy in your life is going to love the satisfying selection of foods we serve up on this important day. Pork Chops stuffed with sage dressing, Beef Pot Roast with potatoes and carrots, Fried Chicken, Carved Country Ham, Frog Legs, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Green Beans, White Shoepeg Corn, Turnip Greens, and more. 6/24   Chamber General Membership Breakfast
The Fleming County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a General Membership Breakfast on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 7 AM. The breakfast will be held at the Fleming County Activities & Fitness Center at 234 Windsor Drive (next to the Fleming County Health Dept.). The Fitness Center staff will be telling everyone about their facilities and activities and will then be giving group tours of the Center. Breakfast is being provided by Baked By Brooke and is FREE to Fleming County Chamber members. (Non-members may attend for the cost of $10 per person.) Please call (606-845-1223) by no later than 4 PM on Wednesday, June 23rd to sign up if you'd like to attend this breakfast.

With the US Mint not in existence until 1792, and a scarcity of currency in general on the frontier, there was a variety of what could be considered “money” to those on the western front. One “buck” meant just that, and held the same buying power as any legal tender currency. Learn more about trade and commerce on the frontier in this program. 6/25   Kentucky Arts Council comes to Maysville
The Kentucky Arts Council welcomes the residents of Maysville and the surrounding area for an afternoon reception from 3:30 – 4:30 PM, Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Washington Opera House Ballroom, 116 W. Second St, Maysville, Ky.

The reception is an opportunity for artists, representatives from arts organizations, educators, community leaders and interested citizens to meet board and staff members of the Kentucky Arts Council and for the arts council to learn about arts activities, tourism and economic development and arts education programs in the region.

The reception follows the quarterly meeting of the governing board of directors of the Kentucky Arts Council, which is scheduled for noon – 3:30 p.m. Both the reception and the meeting are open to the public.

This one-day trip is an all-inclusive 20-mile excursion on the Licking River. Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park will supply canoes, life jackets, box lunch, snacks, drinks, and evening buffet meal at Hidden Waters Restaurant. Cost is $69.95 + tax per person. You will cover a total paddling distance of approximately 20 miles. Space is limited. 6/26   The Fleming County Council for the Arts presents Art Under the Stars, Saturday, June 26, 2010, from 7:30 - 10:00 PM at the Stockton Station Inn, 129 W. Water Street, Flemingsburg,

View works by local artists, listen to local music, enjoy a glass of wine and hors d'ouvers and mingle with other art supporters under the stars. Mystery Art Boxes are available at $25 each; purchasers will find their treasures at
9 PM. Cost for the event is $25 per person ($50 per couple), which includes a membership in the Council, and a supporter of the arts (tax deductible).

Join area musicians on the last Monday of each month from 6 PM - 8 PM for a relaxed evening of fun, friends, and music. You never know who will show up! This is an informal and unstructured event. 6/29   Fleming County farmers Market begins Selling on Tuesday, June 29 at 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Fleming County Extension Office parking lot.
The Official Opening Day for Fleming County Farmers Market is set for Tuesday, June 29th. Many items will be available from 2:00 PM until sell out. The market will be open even if it is raining. Please support our local farmers by buying your fresh produce from Fleming County Farmers Market!

Days of operation for 2010: Tuesday, 2 PM - 6 PM and Saturday, 8 AM - 3 PM. Keep listening to the local radio and watch the local papers to see event announcements or call the Fleming County Extension office at 845-4641 with your questions. (2 - 6 PM)
