The Be A Book Cook program will meet this month on April 17th, at the Fleming Co. Public Library at 6 p.m. We have activities for each child to participate in, and we talk about hand washing before cooking or eating. The first 10 families who sign-up and attend receive a copy of the featured book. Attendance is limited to 15 for this event sign-up. Children and parents love it.
Children ages 3-5 are encouraged to attend, but they need to bring an adult with them, either a parent or child care provider. As a part of Be A Book Cook program, the children learn a cooking skill that goes along with the book. The book to be featured is “The Gigantic Sweet Potato”, by Dianne de Las Casas.
So come and join us and see what happens in the book and help us make a snack. Each family will go home with a packet of information and activities for the parents and children to work on together. This program is free and open to the public.
To reserve your child’s place or any questions about the program, please contact Gwen O’Cull, Fleming Co. Extension Office at 845-4641 or Mary Rushing, Fleming County Public Library at 845-7851. | 4/21 | FLEMING COUNTY COVERED BRIDGE MUSEUM WILL HOST BASEBALL ARTIFACTS SHOW ON SATURDAY APRIL 21
In connection with Little League Day and the Little League Parade, the Covered Bridge Museum will host a one day event featuring some very
unusual and interesting artifacts which are connected with some of our hometown ball players.
Mrs. Phyliss Fryman, wife of the late Woodie Fryman, has agreed to let us show some of the items from Woodie's personal collection such as his uniforms from the Montreal Expos as well as his uniform from the Flemingsburg Aces, as well as other items from his 18 year career. Phyliss plans to be at the museum also, so that is an added bonus. Mr. John Sayre, nephew of the late Bill Graham has agreed to allow us to show Bill's uniform from the Mets as well as other items. We will also have some items from Don Hardin's years as coach of American Legion Baseball, including some photos of local players.
We will be open at 8:30AM, a half hour before the parade starts and will stay open through 4:00. Several former Flemingsburg Aces players have been contacted and may show up to share some stories about the Aces and Woodie's playing days. We know that many people will be interested in seeing and hearing about the hometown boys! We hope that you will join us. (8:30 AM - 4 PM) |
