| 5/2 - 6 | Doodles Studio & Gallery in Flemingsburg will be giving an Open Artist’s Reception on May 2, 2008 from 5 to 9 p.m. to introduce a new show, “The Barn Quilts of Fleming County: A Photographic Journey by Carol Shutt.” The public is invited to come to see the barn quilt photography and sample some of the tasty offerings out of the new Fleming County Homemaker’s Cookbook, “Clothesline of Quilts,” which will also be on sale at the gallery. Wine and cheese will also be served.
This new show promises to be one of the most exciting of the year, featuring outstanding photography from Carol Shutt, who has won numerous awards for her photography and is a juried member of the Kentucky Art Council’s Visual Arts at The Market. She will be offering exclusive prints of her work, and will be available to sign your purchased print.
In addition, Doodles will also have quilt-related art for sale, such as barn quilt jewelry, oils and acrylics and hand-painted side tables. There will also be Amish baskets, hand-carved walking sticks, gemstone jewelry, hand-made glass jewelry and notecards.
The show will run until June 6, 2008, when Doodles will have a new show, “The Fruits of Summer,” which opens 5-9 p.m. on June 6.

| 5/12 | 4-H and FFA members planning to show or sell market goats, hogs, lambs, or feeder calves at any level this year (State Fair, District Shows, Germantown, or Fleming Co. Fall Show and Sale) must have those animals tagged. The date is May 12, beginning at 8:00 AM at the Stockyards in Maysville. A parent or guardian must attend as signatures are required. DNA samples will be taken on the animals that day.
In addition, 4-H members must have received 6 hours of livestock classroom instruction prior to May 12. if a member has not received those state mandated hours, they will not be allowed to tag their animal.
